Every time I think about getting the Covid-19 vaccine, my Facebook news feed will show me reports on this or that vaccine causing side effects, or even deaths. This makes me scared. What exactly is the truth?

All vaccines have side effects. Most of them are mild and will only cause you minor discomfort, if any at all.

Contrast this with getting the actual disease itself, such as Covid-19, measles, mumps, chickenpox, rubella or tuberculosis.

That is why vaccination is the most important thing you can do to protect yourself and your children.

Vaccines prevent up to three million deaths…

Usually, the earlier you show yourself, the better for your startup’s public image. Investors and clients want to see history. If you don’t have history, then most probably something fishy is happening behind the scenes.

I saw multiple startups with a one-page website during my career, claiming that they will get Serie A funding in a couple of months. I don’t believe VC will invest in a startup with only a one-page website, and I was sure something is wrong with this organization. But let me list the different reasons why founders can operate a startup in stealth mode:

There is quite a big difference between a startup and a startup, and every organization is unique and different. To define your needs, it is essential to consider the business niche your organization will penetrate.

Various industries have different requirements and rules of work. The integral part of every business plan is your organization’s budget. To create a budget, you must know the industry you will penetrate. In another case, your budget will not be accurate.

But let me list the different things you must take into account when you start your startup. …

An entrepreneurial mindset is a set of beliefs, thought processes, and ways of viewing the world that drives entrepreneurial behavior. Typically, entrepreneurs firmly believe it’s possible to improve their life situation and live life on their own terms. They also believe in their ability to learn, grow, adapt, and succeed.

The mindset of successful entrepreneurs is different from the mindset of traditional workers in many ways.

For example, if a traditional worker needs to earn more money, they’ll often brush up their resume and look for a better paid job. …

Lean thinking is a mindset and, by itself, doesn’t do much. However, taking action on that mindset — after Lean Education — will change your world.

Lean production is simply production performed with the least amount of wasted effort and materials.

When I really began to get into this, it affected all areas of my life. For example, I did all of the grocery shopping for our family. First, I used a standard list of grocery items to pick up at the store. That was a small advance in productivity.

Then I added another step to the process and…

My first real start up was a free range ready meal business selling in affluent food markets in Kuala Lumpur as well as a deli.

My mistakes or learnings from the business:

  1. Don’t trust anybody (I hate to say this, but its unfortunately its true)
  2. Make sure that your creditors have money to pay you.
  3. Don’t do business with family. If business isn’t supposed to get personal, then that's difficult when working with family.
  4. Always get proper contracts in place — a hand shake won’t stand up later down the line.
  5. If you think that your business is going to…

It was a sunny Sunday afternoon at home relaxing with my family. My in-laws were coming over for dinner later. My phone rang, and I noticed it was “Julius”, our new VP Engineering, calling. Julius had been with us for about one month and he seemed to meshing well with the team.

“Hi Julius, what’s going on?”

“Uh Brett, I don’t know how to tell you this…..but I don’t want to continue being VP Engineering anymore.”

The words didn’t register for a minute.

“Brett, are you there?”

“Yes,” I said. “You want to what?”

“I’m sorry, but I’m just too…

The arrival of COVID-19 vaccines has brought sighs of relief to the community. Unfortunately we still have providers who are still succumbing to this disease. There is a light at the end of the tunnel, but it’s still hard to judge how long that tunnel is.

The basis of infectious-disease transmission is the chain of infection. …

The decision of the authorities to make the AstraZeneca vaccine a voluntary opt-in option for individuals living in the Klang Valley has proven to be an interesting phenomenon.

Let’s start by looking at some basic wins and losses regarding this policy, and then we will take a closer look at some of the new dynamics this policy has created, and what we might learn from them.

The first major win from this decision was that all 268,000 vaccination slots were taken up in just over three hours. …

Here we are, into the fifth month of 2021. Five months into the second year of the Covid-19 pandemic and most countries have got vaccinations going full swing. So that means we should be returning to a life without masks, where handshakes aren’t replaced by fist bumps, and going out and socialising again without risks, right?

Not exactly.

Herd immunity, when enough of a population is immune to a virus so that it can’t spread effectively, is what we were aiming for with all the mass vaccinations, but now herd immunity is looking less and less likely. …
